Dear Friends and Subscribers,
A little more than six months ago, without fanfare, I launched Herb Greenberg | On the Street on Substack.
At the time, it was the same content being sent out to the mailing list of Empire Financial Research, where I also wrote two paid long-biased newsletters. And it was the very same material I used in my Herb on the Street newsletter on LinkedIn, which now has more than 71,000 subscribers.
The crazy, inexplicable part... for some reason writing on Substack was more fun.
So much fun, in fact, that now I’m making it formal and full-time: This newsletter is now where I’m putting all of my writing efforts.
I’m no longer writing for Empire, which is being integrated into Stansberry Research, and I still post snippets of this on LinkedIn...
But going forward, Herb Greenberg | On the Street will be the primary outlet for my commentary on stocks and markets and pretty much anything else I want to write.
A cornerstone, no doubt, will be my Red Flag Alerts of stocks to avoid. (Even after the market’s recent rise, as of Friday the list of 17 stocks is down an average of 30%. You can read more about my red flags methodology here.)
But as much as I enjoy finding the minefields, it’s just as much fun pointing out overlooked opportunities. (If you missed my special report on “a backdoor play on longevity,” you can read it here.) I have a few more reports like that in the queue.
As always, I expect to be unpredictably eclectic. Among my favorites...
My thank-you letter to Elon Musk.
A case study on what happens when a great brand has an outdated, broken business model. (Think Tupperware.)
And one that remains close to my heart, “The Handmade Tale.”
As I explained in my “About” section...
I currently write once or twice a week, sometimes more, sometimes (but rarely, unless I’m on vacation) not at all.
But I also know there’s a fine line between providing value and becoming noise. My goal is not to cross it.
At some point I’ll flip on the “paid” switch... but not quite yet.
In the meantime, I’m about to head off on vacation until the end of the month.
When I’m on vacation, I typically don’t completely unplug. It remains to be seen if I can keep my fingers off the keyboard this time.
Cheers,
Herb
P.S. Please feel free to share this with your friends, and if you haven’t already done so, I always welcome new subscribers.
Enjoy reading your posts. Sad Empire is merged away...Enjoy your vacation. Hope your paid wall hurdle won't be too high, but inclusive and accessible within reach.
Hi Herb, why is it more fun to write on Substack? What's difference here? Tell us more.
